The system is unscientific, alleges Puthusserry The pilot project in the State capital has failed PATHANAMTHITTA: Kerala Congress(M) State general secretary Joseph M. Puthusserry, MLA, has alleged that the State government’s decision to introduce single-window system for higher secondary admissions in the State will badly affect poor children and their parents. He was inaugurating a dharna by activists of the Kerala Congress(M) in protest against the single-window system in front of the Mini Civil Station here on Friday. Mr. Puthusserry alleged that the proposed unscientific admission procedures would infringe upon the right of a student or a parent to select the course and institution of their choice. ‘Politically motivated’Parents usually preferred to send their children to institutions close to their home. The proposed system introduced in Thiruvananthapuram on a pilot basis last year had proved a failure and admission to schools away from home would lead to higher expenses for the parents. He alleged that the move was politically motivated to divest school managements of their role in the admission process. Victor T. Thomas, KC(M) district president, presided. Cherian Polachirackal, KC(M) State general secretary; Varghese Mammen, Roy Panavila, George Abraham and N.N. Raju, KC(M) distict leaders spoke.
