New sub-station in Mallasamudram

NAMAKKAL: A new sub-station will be established in Mallasamudram block to ensure better reliability and voltage levels to consumers, Deputy Speaker of State Assembly V.P. Duraisamy said.
Participating at a function organised to distribute free colour televisions in the block near here recently, he said officials had already taken steps to identity suitable land for the establishment of the new sub-station. He also said that efforts would be made to establish a new primary health centre in Ramapuram village this year, enabling the people in the area to access quality healthcare.
The government was also constructing 11 check dams across the Tirumanimutharu River for effective water management and to improve groundwater level, he added.
Mr. Duraisamy further said that the government distributed over 1.13 lakh free colour televisions to eligible families in Namakkal district till date. The district administration received over 15,500 television sets for distribution in the first quarter of the current fiscal.
Of them, 5,432 television sets were distributed so far. The remaining would be given to the beneficiaries within the end of this month.
The Deputy Speaker said that the government had been implementing a number of welfare programmes to enhance the quality of life of people, particularly those living below the poverty line.
