dated May 17, 1958: New Govt. for Nepal

King Mahendra handed over the country’s administration to a new government under the chairmanship of General Subarna Shamsher, Nepali Congress leader on May 15 at Kathmandu. The formation of a new government without a prime minister ended the six month old direct royal rule since the fall of the K.I. Singh government last November. Broadcasting personally from the palace he urged all to cooperate with the new government and hoped the new ministers would function imbued with ideas of service to the people.
