14 killed in NSCN faction fight
Sushanta Talukdar
Guwahati: Thirteen cadres of the newly formed National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Unification) and a civilian were killed in an internecine gunbattle between the faction and the National Socialist Council of Nagalaim (Isak-Muivah) at Seithekima-C village, about 15 km off Nagaland’s commercial capital Dimapur on Friday.
Following this incident, an irate mob set ablaze the Cease Fire Monitoring Group office of the NSCN(I-M) at Diphupar on the outskirts of Dimapur town.
Tension gripped Dimapur town as thousands of people blocked the National Highway No. 39 with the bodies of the slain NSCN (Unification) cadre to protest their killing.
The police said clashes between the two factions started at Seithekima-C village around 6 a.m. when a group of NSCN (Unification) cadres were returning after attacking a camp of the rival faction.
About 100 cadres of the NSCN (I-M) gunned down the Unification cadres in the gunbattle that ensued between the two sides.
Section 144 of the Cr.PC was clamped in the entire Dimapur town and affected villages.
