MURDER MOST FOUL: Fourteen-year-old Arushi Talwar who was found murdered at her residence in Noida on Friday; and (right) the family’s domestic help Hemraj, who is absconding. NOIDA: A teenaged daughter of a dentist couple was found brutally stabbed to death at her Sector 25 residence here in this township next door to Delhi on Friday. The gruesome murder came to light when 14-year-old Arushi’s father Rajesh Talwar went to her room to wake her up in the morning. To his utter horror, he found Arushi lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab injuries on her face and head. She was rushed to hospital where doctors declared her brought dead. “Dr. Talwar would lock the main door of their three-bedroom flat from inside as a routine practice and keep the key under his pillow. On Friday morning, when their maidservant rang the door-bell, Dr. Talwar got up to open the door and found the key missing from under his pillow. The main door was latched from outside. An unsuspecting Dr. Talwar assumed that the family’s domestic help Hemraj might have gone out to fetch milk from the market. But when he went to Arushi’s room, she was found murdered,” said Superintendent of Police (Noida) Mahesh Mishra. The police suspect involvement of Hemraj who has been absconding since. A cash reward of Rs.20,000 has been announced for anyone providing information or clues leading to him. Forty-two-year-old Hemraj of Nepal was hired last August at the instance of a former domestic help of the family. He usually stayed in the servant’s room in the house. The police are clueless about the motive behind the murder as the girl’s room had not been ransacked and nothing except her mobile phone was missing. “The motive is unclear as no articles were found missing from the house. A sudden provocation could have been the cause. The post-mortem report is expected to throw more light on the case,” said Mr. Mishra, adding that six persons, including Hemraj’s two sons-in-law, have been detained for questioning. Arushi’s stolen mobile phone has been put under surveillance and police teams have been sent out to Nepal in search of Hemraj. Dr. Talwar works with Fortis Hospital in Noida, while his wife Niranjan runs a dental clinic. Arushi was a Class IX student of Delhi Public School in Noida. The school Principal described her as a “bright student”. “She was a happy-go-lucky person always sporting a smile on her face. She was an accomplished dancer and had won several competitions. She always stood first in the class. The news of her death has jolted us,” said her classmate and friend Prerna Parashar.
