Santhosh Madhavan admitted to hospital

IN THE NEWS: Santhosh Madhavan at the Government Medical College Chest Hospital in Thrissur on Friday.

Thrissur: Santhosh Madhavan, who was arrested on Tuesday on charges of cheating and other offences, was admitted to the Government Medical College Chest Hospital in Mulankunnathukavu, near here on Friday.The police said he had complained of chest pain in the morning and was taken to the Ernakulam District Hospital. An ECG showed slight variation and he was referred to the Chest Hospital.

He was brought to the Chest Hospital around 3 p.m. and given pre-ICU care. He was shifted to the medical ward around 5-45 p.m.Chest Hospital superintendent M. A. Raveendran said that his condition was stable.

“He is not being given any medicine now. Echocardiography [a test to make images of heart chambers, valves and surrounding chambers] will be carried out on Saturday. If there is no problem, he will be discharged on Saturday afternoon,” Dr. Raveendran said.

The police struggled to control a large crowd that gathered at the hospital to see him. There was an altercation between mediapersons and the police when there were attempts to prevent lensmen from photographing him.The presence of the accused in Thrissur fuelled speculation that the police had taken him to a few places here as part of the investigation.
