THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Agriculture Minister Mullakkara Ratnakaran has said that the Food Security Mission can be launched only if more funds are made available for its implementation. Mr. Ratnakaran told the media here on Friday that the Agriculture Department had only limited resources and was in no position to implement the scheme with its own funds. “Either the Finance Department should provide the money or the money should come from some other source. Then alone can the scheme be implemented,” he said. Mr. Ratnakaran said the CPI did not believe playing foul with the common goals of the LDF. The CPI had played a major role in the formation of the LDF and its leader P.K. Vasudevan Nair had even relinquished his post as Chief Minister so that the alliance could be formed, he pointed out.
