More services under tax net

VISAKHAPATANAM: In accordance with the Finance Bill 2008 many services have been brought under the Service Tax with effect from Friday, according to a press release from the Commissioner of Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax (Visakhapatnam-I) R. Shakuntala.
The services include information technology, software, management of investment under Unit Linked Insurance Plan (ULIP), stock exchange, commodity exchange, processing and clearing house, supply of tangible goods for use and Internet telecommunication.
The scope of certain services has also been expanded as detailed in the Finance Act 2008.
All the service providers falling under the services concerned have to register themselves with the Service Tax authorities immediately.
A Service Tax registration mela is on at the premises of Assistant Commissioner of Service Tax, Division-I, opposite Isukathota Bus Stop, HIG-244, Sector IV, MVP Colony, Visakhapatnam- 530017. Details can be had on 2521863/2728541.
