MKU Vice-Chancellor off to Bangladesh as consultant
His will help develop self-learning multimedia material for open, distance learning modes
MADURAI: Vice-Chancellor of Madurai Kamaraj University, R. Karpaga Kumaravel, is leaving for Bangladesh on Saturday as a consultant of the Commonwealth of Learning (COL), Canada, to help develop self-learning multimedia material for open and distance learning modes.
“This is a prestigious assignment for me to offer my expertise to the faculty of Bangladesh University in designing instructional skills,” he said here on Friday. The main task of his 10-day stay at Khulna would be to engage in developing Self Learning Instructional Multi Media Material (SLIM 3).
Dr. Kumaravel told The Hindu that he would utilise the opportunity to explore collaborative projects between MKU and institutions in Bangladesh.
According to a communication received from COL, he would be part of an exercise to develop a draft plan for 2008-09 for distance learning material development modules. The consultant would later submit a report on the needs of learners in that country.
