BANGALORE: The Special Court in Bangalore, which is hearing the disproportionate assets case against former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and four others — Sasikalaa Natarajan, J. Illavarsi, V.N. Sudhagaran and T.T.V. Dinakaran — permitted N. Jyothi, advocate for Jayalalithaa, to withdraw from the case.

Hearing on July 29

The court, which is now headed by Justice A. T. Munnoli, accepted the application for withdrawal filed by Jyothi and adjourned further hearing on the case to July 29.

With Mr. Jyothi retiring from the cases, three new advocates have filed vakalat for appearing on behalf of Jayalalithaa (first accused), Sasikalaa Natarajan (second accused) and J. Illavarasi (accused number 4).

While Navaneetha Krishnan has filed vakalat on behalf of Ms. Jayalalithaa, Venkateshan will be appearing for Ms. Sasikalaa and Kandaswamy for Ms. Illavarasi.

Senior advocate and Advocate-General of Karnataka B.V. Acharya, who is the special public prosecutor, is appearing for the prosecution.
