ANANTAPUR: President of the Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society (PACS) of Kanaganapalli, Narayana Yadav (35) of the Congress, a staunch follower of G. Suryanarayana Reddy alias Maddelacheruvu Suri, was hacked to death in Vadderla Colony here on Friday night, allegedly by unidentified persons. He died on the spot. According to the police, Narayana Yadav, a native of Balepalyam village in Kanaganapalli mandal, has been residing in Laxminagar here and was engaged in real estate activities for the last couple of years. He went to Vadderla Colony in Papampet on the Kalyanadurg Road in the night apparently to meet somebody. The attackers were learnt to have waylaid, chased and hacked him repeatedly on the face and head. He was done to death immediately. Threatening callsHe contested the 2004 Assembly elections as an independent to support Congress candidate G. Bhanumati, wife of Suri, logistically. It is learnt that he has been getting threatening calls from coin-box phones for the last couple of days. Apart from rivalry with TDP supporters in Kanganapalli area, two Congress groups were also at loggerheads in the recent weeks for supremacy. Two Town CI B. Vijaykumar and SI Prasad Reddy rushed to the incident spot and shifted the body to hospital.
