Aid under Ananta Aanimutyalu

Applications available at Tahsildar offices from May 19


About Rs. 70 lakh contributed by donors so far

Beneficiaries to be decided by the month-end


ANANTAPUR: Applications for financial assistance under ‘Ananta Aanimutyalu’, a scheme initiated by the district administration to help meritorious students from poor families continue education after SSC, are being made available in all Tahsildars’ offices in the district from May 19. Filled-in applications can be submitted till May 27.

According to District Collector N. Sridhar, about Rs. 70 lakh has been contributed by donors to the Ananta Aanimutyalu Society so far. Based on the amount of contributions received till the month-end, the number of beneficiaries would be decided.

As 2,527 students in the district have scored more than 500 marks, the cut-off marks have been fixed at 500 or more for BC and OC students, 450 or more for SC and ST students, 400 or more for physically challenged students for applying for assistance under the scheme. Each rural mandal has been sent 100 applications and 200 each for urban mandals.

List of enclosures

The students are required to enclose copies of marks list, caste and income certificates, white ration card, and certificate of physical disability and passport size photos. The applications would be scrutinised before finalising the list of eligible students for assistance and counselling would be arranged for the students in private and government residential junior colleges and the choice of admission would also be given to the beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, the administration has also decided to felicitate best performing students, headmasters, teachers and wardens soon. The social welfare residential schools in the district have stood first in the State by achieving 97.91 pass percentage.

The Collector complimented the students for putting up a good show in the SSC examinations by registering 70.33 pass percentage.
