MLA moots restricted supply to reduce consumption

Rally to be taken out from Fort on Monday

VIZIANAGARAM: TDP Polit Bureau member P. Ashok Gajapati Raju has called upon people to put in concerted efforts to protect environment for the benefit of future generations.

Speaking at an awareness programme on “Un-Plug”, organised by Siti Cable and Satya Vision (local cable operators), APUWJ and Press Club here on Saturday, Mr. Ashok said: “pollution levels are more where the per capita power consumption is high.”

Every individual must play active role to protect environment by reducing power consumption, he said and suggested that usage of modern power conserving appliances to reduce pollution levels as the demand for supply had been increasing by 10 per cent every year.

Advocating that the campaigning must be on a positive line, he said that creating awareness on protecting environment must be a continuous process.

K. Veerabhadra Swamy, MLA, suggested restricted power supply to reduce consumption.

G. Srinivasulu Naidu, MLC (Teacher) said awareness on “Un-Plug” must not be viewed as creating inconvenience.

All teachers’ unions extended support to the programme.
