‘Invest in health’

Bangalore: Money spent on the health and education sector should not be considered an expenditure but an investment, said M. Madan Gopal, Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, on Saturday.

Addressing the district-level officers of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department on the issue of lack of facilities in government hospitals in rural areas, he said many infants and mothers die every year from inadequate facilities. He said surprise checks will be conducted in hospitals in rural areas to activate the hospital administration. — Staff Reporter
