BANGALORE: The Lokayukta police caught a First Division Assistant of a primary health centre in Bijapur taluk while he was allegedly accepting Rs. 5,000 for disbursing increment arrears. According to a press note, Subash Narayan Solanki demanded Rs. 20,000 from Ashok Vittal Gaikwad of Bijapur for disbursing the increment arrears of Rs. 64,293. Solanki later settled for Rs. 5,000 and asked Gaikwad to bring the money to the primary health centre. On a complaint, Lokayukta police trapped Solanki while he was allegedly accepting the money. A case has been registered under the provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act. Kanthamma, another First Division Assistant, who is working in the office of Deputy Commissioner of Chitradurga, and her brother were arrested for allegedly accepting Rs. 40,000 for putting up a file related to a land dispute. A case has been registered against Kanthamma and her brother Annappa. Sharief Kademane, a licensed surveyor, allegedly demanded a bribe from Ramesh Barki for preparing a sketch of land that Bakri wanted to sell. Kademane accepted Rs. 5,000 and then asked for Rs. 2,500 more. Kademane was caught while allegedly accepting Rs. 2,500. Village accountantFabin Joseph, a village accountant of Channapatna taluk, was arrested for allegedly accepting Rs. 500 for issuing a small land-holder certificate.
