HYDERABAD: Byrraju Foundation (sponsored by the family members of Satyam Computers chairman B. Ramalinga Raju) proposes to open six more business process outsourcing (BPO) units in rural Andhra Pradesh through ‘GramIT’, its rural BPO arm, taking the total to 10. Talking to reporters here on Friday, Jacob Verghese, lead partner of Byrraju Foundation, said that the four BPOs currently working from Jallikakinada in West Godavari district, Ethakota and Antarvedipalem in East Godavari, and Khajipalem in Guntur were offering services like transaction processing, bill verification, curriculum vitae processing in the realm of human resources, cab booking and technical help desk for computer operations. A. S. Murthy, director and senior vice-president, Satyam Computers, said that the associates in the rural BPOs demonstrated 25 per cent more efficiency than their city-bred counterparts. World classWhile 15,000 person hours were spent on training, they produced 50,000 person hours of world class services. They were also being exposed to ‘Six Sigma’ methodology for improved efficiency. The four BPOs had 512 kbps internet connectivity.
