Agappe Diagnostics plans diversification

KOCHI: Agappe Diagnostics Ltd., which has set up a state-of-the-art factory at Pattimattom in Ernakulam, will enter the lab chemicals business soon. The company has acquired land from Kinfra and the project is likely to go on stream by the end of the current financial year, according to the company’s managing director Thomas John. The company has launched new products such as Kidscreen, used for analysis chemical substances, and compact fully automatic clinical analyser, according to a press release. — Staff Reporter

Corporate festival held

KOCHI: ‘Escape-2008,’ a corporate event, was held at Gokulam convention centre, Kochi, recently. As many as 600 executives from more than 20 corporates in Kerala participated in the event. The programme was held as a fund raiser for various social activities undertaken by the Rotary Club of Cochin East, according to a press release. — Staff Reporter

Bahrain Air services from May 26

KOCHI: Bahrain Air’s will launch its Kochi-Bahrain service on May 26 from the Kochi international airport. The service will operate three times a week during the summer season. The airline will offer an introductory fare on the sector, according to a press release. — Staff Reporter

Award for Hindustan Petroleum chairman

KANNUR: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation chairman Arun Balakrishnan will be presented the A.K. Nair Memorial Award instituted jointly by the North Malabar Chamber of Commerce (NMCC) and the Mumbai-based Leela Group. Announcing this here on Saturday, NMCC president B. Maheshchandra Baliga said the award was instituted to honour individuals from North Malabar who have risen to occupy top positions at the national level. Mr. Balakrishnan is the son of the late physician and social activist T.P. Balakrishnan. The award will be presented to him at a function at Rajarajeswari Convention Centre here at 4 p.m. on May 20. . Leela Group chairman C.P.
