Poll staff urged to read new EC regulations

Sangareddy: Election observer for Siddipet Rohit R. Brandon, addressing the returning officers at the RDO office in Siddipet on Saturday, advised the government employees on election duty to discharge their duties without prejudice.

According to a press release here on Saturday, Brandon directed the poll staff to read and understand the new regulations stipulated by the Election Commission. The returning officers were asked to allow only those with photo ID cards as agents inside the polling booth. The staff must also take precautionary measures in booths classified as problematic or sensitive. He said that additional workforce in the shape of Micro observers would be pressed into duty to assist the observers.

He advised them to take written declaration from the polling officers and APOs that they have fully understood the working of the EVMs before commencement of the polls.

Similarly no one would be allowed to use a cell phone inside the poling area. Expenditure observer Vinay Kumar pal and district collector Piyush Kumar were also present.
