VISAKHAPATNAM: The general body meeting of the Visakhapatnam Zilla Praja Parishad on Saturday unanimously passed a resolution requesting the State Government not to shift to Kadapa the Central University proposed by the Central Government here. Narsipatnam MLA and former Minister Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu of Telugu Desam raised the issue as soon as the meeting commenced and demanded that the State Government withdraw its decision to shift the university. When he wanted the GBM to pass a resolution to this effect all accepted. The meeting, presided over by Chairperson Gorle Ramamurthy Naidu, proceeded smoothly as the officials from different departments answered several questions raised by the MLAs, ZPTCs and MPPs for about two hours till Mr. Patrudu walked out expressing disgust over the Narsipatnam Revenue Divisional Officer not accepting that the MLA had earlier complained to him that staff at the MRO office demanded Rs.1 lakh from an Ex-Serviceman to issue patta to the land allotted to him by the Government. Earlier, Mr. Patrudu and his party MLA Chengala Venkata Rao objected to the Collector not being present at the meeting and Joint Collector M. Veerabrahmaiah leaving the meeting midway to conduct court at his office. Both MLAs said the Collector or the Joint Collector, if present, would have given instructions or found solutions to the issues.
