Karunanidhi’s efforts appreciated

MADURAI: The Tamil Nadu Untouchability Eradication Front has appreciated Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi for his efforts to demolish a portion of the wall at Uthapuram village in Madurai district.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, its president P. Sampath said the front would also press the government to fulfil the other demands of the Dalits like opening up of remaining common paths, a bus shelter and making public spaces accessible.

The front wanted the government to effectively implement the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989. — Staff Reporter
