Letters to the Editor
It is indeed disturbing to see inflation spiralling out of control. Inflation in the global market is the result of below par agricultural produce owing to droughts, famines, and floods in various parts of the world. Another important reason for inflation remains the crude oil price, which has touched an all-time high. On the national front, the government’s flip-flop in policies, lack of vision, and failure to foresee price rise are to blame. With industrial growth slowing down and elections round the corner, curbing inflation should be the government’s primary objective. Ch. Abhishek, Hyderabad Inflation has been growing at an alarming rate much to the distress of the UPA government, despite its efforts to contain it by various fiscal and monetary measures. The people should support the government in this hour of crisis and remain patient as the situation is no different elsewhere. The world has become too globalised to prevent the spread of economic unrest from one country to the rest of the world. R. Rahul, Thiruvananthapuram
