PUDUCHERRY: St. Mary’s Eye Care conducted its 5th annual free eye screening camp on Sunday.

Chief Minister N. Rangasamy inaugurated the camp at St. Fatima’s Church.

Free glasses

A total of 350 persons underwent check up at the camp. Of this, 45 persons have been recommended for surgery, Consultant Eye Surgeon of St. Mary’s Eye Care M.L.D. Amalaraja said.

“During the camp, the main problem among elderly persons was defective vision due to cataract. Younger persons had complaints of refractive errors. We will give 35 patients free glasses,” he said.

Dr. Amalaraja said they had been conducting monthly eye camps regularly. “We are ready to offer our services free of cost for those who want to organise such eye camps,” he said.

Rev. Fr. Gnanaprakasam was present at the inauguration of the camp.
