Roadside trees

Sir, — The roadside tress give us shade and provide a green cover for the city. But it is seen that the trunks of most of the trees are not strong enough to support their branches. Some trees such as banyan and peepal have strong tunks and they do not get uprooted by strong winds. Most of the trees planted on the roadside cause problems to public. Their branches touch the electrical lines. As a result, frequent pruning becomes necessary. Some old trees require to be maintained. I request the authorities to look into this aspect.

Shifting of bus stop

Sir, — At present, the NGEF bus stop is situated opposite to NGEF which is far away for GTRE and HAL Aero Engine employees as well as commuters from Byappanahalli. Since NGEF and HAL Aero Engine Main gate have been closed, commuters from HAL Aero, GTRE and Byappanahalli have to walk through the dense traffic, and there is no trace of footpath there. It is requested that the bus stop be shifted to another place in front of Sampuran Mount Fort College.

Serving as exemplars

Sir, — When I was travelling by a Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation bus from Airport Road to Koramangala recently, I was surprised to find around 30 software professionals in the bus. Asked why they did not travel by car, which they said they did possess, I was told that bus travel was convenient, less stressful and would help save energy as well as avoid traffic jams. Car pools, which were now in vogue, helped avoid parking hassles, they said. I hope people follow their example.
