The girl was taken for treatment to Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences She has been sent to Chikamagalur for further investigation HASSAN: A 14-year-old girl was reportedly molested by four people near Chikmagalur district recently. Deputy Superintendent of Police Rudrappa told The Hindu on Sunday that the girl, who was from Thoranamavu village, had gone to Chikmagalur on May 11 to buy medicines. TorturedHe said that Mani, an autorickshaw driver, and three of his friends allegedly took her to the outskirts of the town and molested her. They tortured her with cigarette butts and threatened her with dire consequences if she told anybody about the incident, he said and added that they also asked her not to stay in Chikmagalur. The girl then took a bus and came to her relative’s house in Hassan, Mr. Rudrappa said. Her relatives brought her to the Pathrika Bhavan here on Saturday and journalists brought the issue to the notice of the police department. Mr. Rudrappa said that the girl was taken to the Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences for treatment. Her statements had been recorded, he added. She has now been sent to Chikmagalur for further investigations.
