Governor gives assent
CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala has given his assent to extend the Tamil Nadu Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Bootleggers, Drug-offenders, Forest-offenders, Goondas, Immoral Traffic-offenders, Sand-offenders, Slum-grabbers and Video Pirates Act, 1982, to include those desecrating statues.
According to the Tamil Nadu Gazettee, the assent was given on May 15. The Act would be called Tamil Nadu Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Bootleggers, Drug-offenders, Forest-offenders, Goondas, Immoral Traffic-offenders, Sand offenders, Slum-grabbers and Video Pirates (Amendment) Act, 2008. — Special Correspondent
