HYDERABAD: The Lok Satta has intensified its campaign to take its newly allotted symbol ‘whistle’ to the electorate. The party which fielded young and highly educated professionals and entrepreneurs as its candidates is confident that middle class, youth and women fed up with political corruption, inequity and injustice and bad governance, will blow the ‘whistle’ to bring in a genuine change to transform people’s lives. AlternativeThe candidates for Khairatabad, Musheerabad, Secunderabad and Therlam byelections were chosen by consensus solely based on their impressive track record of service society, say Lok Satta leaders. The mood is clearly for a real alternative to the present political parties as whenever people chose a different traditional political party, they had realised it did not change the political culture. Without provision for free and quality health care, education and job-oriented skills, society cannot not be transformed, they aver. The party urged the voters to exercise their franchise without succumbing to lure of liquor or money. Politicians of traditional parties have been perpetuating their dynasties only with people’s votes. “If you stop patronising them, their citadels of power will crumble,” Lok Satta said.
