Another batch of aid will leave for China today

NEW DELHI: The second plane carrying relief for earthquake victims in China will leave Kanpur on Monday.
The first batch of aid to China had left in the Indian Air Force’s largest troop aircraft, the Il-76, on Saturday carrying 36 tonnes of blankets and tents. The aid is part of a $5- million package approved by the Ministry of External Affairs and will be utilised for providing blankets, tents, sleeping bags, medicines.
Following an offer from External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, China has also requested for tents, water purifiers, stretchers, cutting machines, winches, medicines and portable cabins.
