UPSC preliminary exam conducted

PUDUCHERRY: The All India Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) was held at four sub-centres in Puducherry on Sunday. This was the sixth time Puducherry was hosting the civil services examination.

Out of 1,621 candidates who were issued hall tickets, 989 candidates appeared for the examination.

The examination was held in two sessions – from 9.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. and from 2.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m., Collector and Assistant Coordinating Supervisor for the examination G. Theva Neethi Das said. The examination was held at Bharathidasan Government College for Women, Muthialpet, Government Women’s Polytechnic, Lawspet, Vallalar Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Lawspet and Vivekananda Higher Secondary School, Sellaperumalpet.

“Special arrangements were made for free transport for the candidates from the bus stand.

The candidates were from Puducherry and neighbouring districts of Tamil Nadu, including Cuddalore and Villupuram,” he said.

An officer on special duty in the office of chairperson of UPSC was appointed as observer for the examination.
