Sir, — The roadside tress give us shade and provide a green cover for the city. But it is seen that the trunks of most of the trees are not strong enough to support their branches. Most of the trees planted on the roadside cause problems to the public. Their branches touch the electrical lines. As a result, frequent pruning becomes necessary. K.C. Mohanti, Bangalore Shifting of NGEF bus stopSir, — At present, the NGEF bus stop is situated opposite NGEF which is far away for GTRE and HAL Aero Engine employees as well as commuters from Byappanahalli. Since NGEF and HAL Aero Engine Main gate have been closed, commuters from HAL Aero, GTRE and Byappanahalli have to walk through the dense traffic, and there is no trace of a footpath there. It is requested that the bus stop be shifted in front of Sampuran Mount Fort College. It is suggested that the Isolation Hospital and NGEF bus stops be joined and shifted near Sampurna Mount Fort College. K. Sridhar, Bangalore Voting rights deniedSir, — We, the voters in KR Layout, JP nagar 6th phase , were denied our voting rights for the second successive time. We were first denied the rights in the 2004 elections and again on May 10 this year, in spite of having elector photo identity cards. Being senior citizens, we did not get proper guidance as we went searching from one booth to other to cast our votes. We were not allowed to vote because our names were not found in any of the booths. Our names were missing in the voters’ list even after the recent delimitation. We hope that we will get a response from a competent authority. S.M. Bidarkar, Bangalore Serving as exemplarsSir, — When I was travelling by a Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation bus from Airport Road to Koramangala recently, I was surprised to find around 30 software professionals in the bus. Asked why they did not travel by car, which they said they did possess, I was told that bus travel was convenient, less stressful and would help save energy as well as avoid traffic jams. Car pools, which were now in vogue, helped avoid parking hassles, they said. I hope that other office-going staff will follow their example.
