Post-mortem examination reveals sickle injuries

KURNOOL: The post-mortem of TDP leader P. Venkatappa Naidu and nine others on Sunday revealed sickle injuries and injuries sustained from a bomb explosion. Naidu and nine others were done to death near Kodumur in Kurnool district on Saturday.

According to medical personnel, the face of Venkatappa Naidu was badly smashed in the incident.

He also suffered sickle injuries on the head, chest, neck, left hand and right leg and took the impact of the bomb blast too.

Meanwhile, the officers investigating the case came to a conclusion that the killers hit the jeep with the truck and then hurled bombs.

Later, they attacked the victims with sickles. Several inmates of the jeep died in the bomb attack.The doctors recovered a pellet from the body of a victim identified as Ranganna.

FSL expert visits spot

An expert from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) visited the spot and collected evidence supporting the bomb attack.The truck which was used to ram the jeep and also a Sumo in which the assailants fled was reportedly brought by Madduleti Naidu, nephew of Venkatappa Naidu.

Mr. Maddileti Naidu figures as the prime accused as per the information gathered so far. A team was constituted with Kurnool Deputy SP Ramnath as the investigating officer.Meanwhile, Varam Padma, an associate of Madduleti Naidu and opponent of Venkatappa Naidu, was taken into custody by the police. However, the police did not declare any arrests officially so far.eanwhile, the funeral of the victims of Saturday’s attack was conducted peacefully in their native villages. Mr. Venkatappa Naidu and four others were buried at Kappatralla, while three others were buried at Devanakonda and one at Venkatapuram.

Top TDP leaders C. Ramachandraiah, Tammineni Sitaram, Kalva Srinivasulu, K.E. Krishna Murthy, K.E. Prabhakar, B.V. Mohan Reddy and others attended Venkatappa Naidu’s funeral at Kappatralla.
