Seven-seater autos still ply despite ban Readers React

Sir,

Despite the ban, the seven-seater auto-rickshaws continue to ply upto Nalgonda crossroads, both from Dilsukhnagar and Chandrayanagutta sides. These vehicles don’t have indicators, head lamps and registration number plates.

At IS Sadan and Nagarjuna Sagar road junction, the seven-seaters and Trax tempo vehicles occupy half of the road even as police watch. At DMRL crossroads, police stand in a corner leaving a single home guard the junction to regulate vehicles.

Please instruct your officials to be on the traffic regulation duties on the streets and at intersections instead of confining themselves to imposing fines.

Prakash

Kanchanbagh Dear Prakash,

Since the Transport Department issues permits for different types of commercial and passenger vehicles, I have requested them to put up boards at all the points beyond which seven-seaters are not allowed and also to have separate teams which can seize the vehicles plying without permission.

In the meantime, traffic staff leaving their posts and found chatting or sitting in shops are being dealt with and on the other hand the teams doing well are regularly sanctioned cash rewards for effective traffic regulations.

Sir,

Vehicles coming out of the police quarters opposite Ravindra Bharati, instead of going up to Ashoka hotel and take ‘U’ turn, directly move towards right causing confusion to commuters.

Lot of auto-rickshaws are parked on the roads opposite Punjagutta traffic police station causing traffic snarls.

Sanjay Bajaj

Hyderabad Dear Mr. Bajaj,

I have myself been pointing out these things. We are booking even police vehicles and drivers for violations.

Sir,

We, residents of Swarnandhra Phase 1, Yapral, are facing problem of space for parking cars within our society.

Despite number of requests in the meetings, some residents are adamant and park their cars on the roads causing inconvenience to all.

I request you to suggest if there is a legal recourse to the problem.

P.R.R. Rao

Secunderabad

Dear Rao,

The area you are talking about falls in Cyberabad Police Commissionerate limits. But, the issue of parking of cars on the roads by apartment owners is very much relevant to all cities. Not only are they supposed to park their cars within their premises, even their visitors have to park their vehicles within. You are free to contact the Traffic Police of your area to resolve such issues.

Sir,

At Sanman hotel at Tarnaka, vehicles are parked in two to three rows. How can the police issue challans without making any markings or putting up any board.

Are the police not being opportunistic by making people to park in multiple rows and then impose fines on them?

Raghavendra G. Muthalik

Hyderabad Dear Mr. Muthalik,

Please keep following our Traffic Awareness Campaigns. Wrong parking, blocking of carriage way, encroaching upon the footpath, etc., have been the regular themes of our traffic education projects. Absence of board cannot be justification for causing obstruction to traffic. We are waiting for people to realise their responsibility and to make conscious efforts to avoid traffic violations. A driving licence holder ought to know where and how he should park. Let us locate parking space and then park and walk, rather than stepping in after parking bang on the road.

Sir,

At Kothaguda junction, pedestrians cannot cross the road, as vehicles keep coming continuously. There is no road divider from Kothaguda junction to Sarath palace.

Due to this, all the vehicles are taking ‘U’ turn wherever they like throwing lives of pedestrians into danger.

S. Sethuraman

Kondapur Dear Mr. Sethuraman,

Kondapur is under Cyberabad Police Commissionerate jurisdiction. I have faxed a copy of your mail to their office. We are booking rash drivers and encroachers in our area. Especially those coming / driving on the wrong side are produced in the court.

Till April, this year Traffic Inspectors have sent (1747) violators to the Traffic Mobile Courts.
