“Electronic beat is followed in our police station. It helps in keeping track of the areas the beat policeman covers at night. Night rounds begin at 9 p.m. and continue till 6 a.m. The policemen patrol the beach and the shore, pick up those who stay back after 11 p.m., bring them to the station . They are then compared with those already registered with us as suspects in various cases. Beggars and mentally unwell persons found loitering are sent to rehabilitation homes.”
