Headmaster suspended
Special Correspondent
LUCKNOW: The headmaster and an assistant teacher of a higher primary school at Fariha village in Auraiya district of Uttar Pradesh have been suspended on charges of consuming liquor on the school premises and objectionable behaviour.
The headmaster, Shyam Babu Sabita, was later arrested under sections 290/294 of the Indian Penal Code. The services of the “shiksha mitra,” Mamta Pal were terminated with immediate effect.
Intoxicated state
The action was taken by District Magistrate of Auraiya Jai Prakash Tripathi. A news channel had shown the headmaster consuming liquor and later reciting couplets in an intoxicated state.
An official press statement quoting the District Magistrate issued here on Sunday said an inquiry found the charges to be true.
