In memory of John Abraham

KOZHIKODE: ‘John Abraham,’ a film on filmmaker John Abraham and his cinema will be screened under the aegis of Kaani Film Society at Changaramkulam on May 25.

The screening is in connection with the 20th death anniversary of John Abraham which falls on May 31. ‘John Abraham’ directed by C. Sarat Chandran is a statement of the human being that John Abraham was and the slot he had created for himself in the world of cinema.

His first film ‘Agraharathile Kazhutha’(1977) had led to protests in Tamil Nadu, and was subsequently banned in that State. ‘Amma Ariyan’ (1986) was made with contributions from the public. His other films noted for political and social critique are ‘Vidyarthikale Ithile Ithile’ (1972), and ‘Cheriyachante Krurakrithyangal’(1979).
