This Day That Age
The Prime Minister, Mr. Jawaharlal Nehru, addressing instructors training at Faridabad under the national Discipline Scheme, said in New Delhi on May 18 that the real aim of education was to broaden children’s outlook and not to confine it to the contents of the textbooks. The child, he said, had to be given education not to develop only physically but also mentally. An important thing in education, he said, was to make students open-minded. This would lead them to have a broad outlook on life and thus the more they learn, the more they would progress and contribute their mite to make the nation march forward.
