dated May 20, 1958 : Cannes Film Festival

The Soviet film “When the Storms Pass” won the Grand Prix at the Cannes International Film Festival on May 18. “When the Storms Pass” is a tragic love story with a grim background of bombs and war. The star of the film was Tatiana Samoilova, the beautiful 21-year-old Moscow actress. A special prize went to the film “Mon Oncle” directed by Jacques Tati (France). The prize for directing went to Ingmar Bergman for the film “Nara Livet” (Sweden). The prize for an original scenario was awarded to P.P. Pasolini, Massimo Franciosa and Pass quale Festa Campinile for the film “Giovani Mariti” (Italy). The international prize went to the films “Goha” (Tunisia) and “Visages De Bronze” (Switzerland).
