Juhi Chawla promoting clothes from the film Bhoothnath as part of the campaign for the IIFA Bling for Biba line. NEW DELHI: To cash in on Amitabh Bachchan’s ghost film “Bhoothnath” and the upcoming International Indian Film Academy Awards, some leading designers have come out with a brand new “desi” collection. Eminent Mumbai designers Renu Chopra, Bina Kapur and Vikram Phadnis have joined hands to create a special collection that is inspired by the glitz and glamour of the IIFA event and used in Ravi Chopra’s “Bhoothnath”. Since the “Bhoothnath” collection is for women’s-only, Juhi Chawla came to the Capital over the weekend to promote the collection that will be available under the “IIFA Bling for Biba” clothing line. “I am happy to launch the Bhoothnath collection as I have worn the dresses in the movie. The collection comprises dresses in cotton that are traditional as well as vibrant,” she said. Juhi, who is part of the campaign for the IIFA Bling for Biba line, has been pitted opposite superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the film. Fashion designer Renu Chopra, wife of Ravi Chopra who apart from “Bhoothnath” has made memorable films like “Baghbaan” and “Burning Train”, had tears in her eyes when her husband narrated the script of the film to her. “I got emotional when Ravi narrated the script to me. All I want to say is that Juhi has carried the clothes well in the film. The aim behind the collection is to take the glamour of tinsel town into people’s lives,” she said. “The new line is an amalgamation of a designer’s efforts to create exclusive garments and retailers’ ability to transport them to availability,” added Renu, who has designed the new line along with designer Bina Kapur. As the countdown to the IIFA event has begun, the new line includes silky, sultry pastels and darker shades of the base colour range. Having been associated with IIFA for five years, designer Vikram Phadnis says the event will bring the glamorous stars of Bollywood for the award function in their best attire. ‘Another side to IIFA’“The IIFA event is growing bigger and better. By launching the new line, the reputed awards are discovering another side. The designs for the IIFA Bling for Biba line are going to be different and creative every time and every season,” says Phadnis. Stating that Bollywood has always inspired him to come up with new styles in tune with the fast-changing fashion preferences, Sanjay Bindra of Biba says that Biba has been in movie merchandising since the release of the Hrithik Roshan starrer “Na Tum Jano Na Hum”. “We have also done merchandising for the Sunny Deol starrer ‘The Hero: Love Story of a Spy’ and the Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Devdas’,” he adds.
