Plea to set up panels to protect temple lands

Staff Reporter

SALEM: The Hindu Baktha Jana Sabha has urged the State Government to establish a committee in each district under the chairmanship of Collector to protect the temple lands.

Resolution

A resolution to this effect was passed at a meeting of the Salem district unit here on Sunday. Members of the sabha urged the Government to include persons who were not affiliated to political parties as members of the committee. The initiative would help prevent encroachments.

Encroachments

The sabha also demanded the district administration to handover a pond which belonged to Taramangalam Kailasanathar Temple, to the temple administration. Steps should be initiated to remove all the encroachments in the pond.

‘Kudamuzhukku’

Members also wanted the Government to take initiatives to conduct Kudamuzhukku for Arulmighu Kothandaramasamy Temple in Ayodhyapattinam. District president J. Vijayaraj presided.
