Fishermen hold agitation

PUDUKOTTAI: Representatives of fishermen’s associations and societies held an agitation in front of a police station at Manamelkudi, about 75 km from here, on Monday to press for their 10-point charter of demands.

Their demands, among other things, included disbursement of special off-season allowance of Rs.1,000 and 50 kg of rice a family during the annual ban on fishing. — Staff Reporter
