HAL Airport case back in High Court

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The contentious issue of the closure of the HAL Airport in Bangalore has again come back to the Karnataka High Court.

A petitioner from Bangalore, B. Krishna Bhat, who was one among the several people and organisations in Bangalore who had contested the closure of the HAL airport, filed an interlocutory application (IA) in the High Court on Monday. The IA stated that though the High Court and Supreme Court had suggested to the Civil Aviation Ministry to renegotiate the closure of the HAL Airport with Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL),no serious effort was made to “sit , discuss and thrash out” the issues.

It said that none of the respondents — BIAL, Union and State Governments, Airports Authority of India (AAI), Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) — had made any effort to thrash out the contentious issues.
