Kathmandu: Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoists) Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda) has said they would retaliate against any attempt to disrupt the May 28 Constituent Assembly meet. At a programme organised here to mark Lord Gautam Buddha’s birth anniversary, Mr. Prachanda said his party strove for providing lasting peace in the country, adopting Buddha’s teachings of sacrifice and tolerance. “The Nepali people have given ‘revolutionaries’ [the Maoists] the responsibility to run the government,” he said adding, “and we’re committed to our responsibility.” He also stressed that Nepal did not need to adopt any model to establish and sustain peace. “We will bring peace in our own Nepali way,” he said.
