APPSC denies chairman’s statement on quota

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) on Monday denied a statement attributed to its chairman that the posts to be filled under the minority quota would be included in the general quota.

The commission issued a clarification in response to a report published on May 19 in which Mohd. Jani, Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council demanded dismissal of APPSC Chairman Y. Venkatarami Reddy for making the statement.

The release stated that the Commission “is duty-bound to follow the orders, rules, instructions issued by the Government from time to time in connection with rules of reservations, Presidential order, while processing the recruitment.”

“It is emphasised that the Commission will also follow the orders/instructions issued by the Government in connection with reservations to Muslims in letter and spirit and that there will not be any deviations”.
