Rourkela: Interests of tribals must be given due importance while setting up industries, particularly in underdeveloped areas of Orissa, according to National Commission for Scheduled Tribes chairman Mouris Kujur. “The State government should take the initiative to solve the long-pending problems of land dispute, compensation to the tribals, who had donated their valuable land for the establishment of various projects and industries in the State,” he said. “Interest of tribals should be the first priority while establishing industries and thinking of modernisation of industries and development in backward districts,” Mr. Kujur said while addressing officials at a meeting in Sundergarh, 110 km from here on Sunday. “Without considering any political line-up and affiliations we should consider the development of tribals, living below poverty line. Development of Sundergarh is just impossible without development of tribals,” he said directing the officials to seriously take up the long-pending disputes of tribals and solve it as early as possible. -PTI
