CUTTACK: Eminent football player and social worker Laxmi Charan Bose died of cardiac arrest at his Alam Bazaar residence here on Monday. He was 67. He was popularly known as ‘Kuchhu Da.’ Hundreds of sports lovers and many citizens of the city visited his residence to pay their last respects to him. Starting his football career from the famous Rovers club of the city, Bose represented Orissa in Santosh Trophy from 1961 to 67. He had also captained the State for three editions in the national championships. He joined BNR in 1967 and also played the IFA shield representing the famous Mohun Bagan of Kolkata. After his retirement, Kuchhu Da continued to actively involve as an organiser in the Cuttack district sports and athletics field. He was running a football academy in the city and was the vice-president of Cuttack district athletic association. He was also an active member of the senior selection committee and coaching committee of Orissa Football Association (OFA). Orissa Cricket Association secretary Ashirbad Behera and OFA secretary M.A. Alam and several other sports organisers of the city condoled the death of Bose.
