CUTTACK: A 75-year-old Narasimha Purty, a tribal quarry worker of Choudwar here, was leading a life of serial monogamy having sexual relationship with as many as seven different partners. He was successfully handling the situation for the last 50 years, thanks to his tendency of having the relationship one after another but never more than one at a time. Narasimha, however, found it awfully difficult to strike a balance between his legalised family (the family of his first wife) and his seventh life partner with whom he began to live only three months ago. Unable to express his love for the 35-year-old new partner against the stiff opposition from none other than his sons and grandchildren, Narasimha on Saturday took the extreme step of committing suicide along with his young wife after consuming poison. The incident took place in Dudhianali, a hamlet under the Choudwar police station, about 35 km from here and police retrieved the bodies from Narasimha’s house on Saturday morning, said the Choudwar police. “It was a clear case of suicide by consuming poison. However, we are waiting for the post-mortem report to get a confirmation”, said the local police station officer-in-charge P.K. Mallick. Police registered a case and investigation is on. “We have not received any complaints from anybody yet and there is no question of booking anybody for abetting the couple to commit suicide,” Mr. Mallick added.
