Heatwave toll goes up to 41
BHUBANESWAR: The sunstroke deaths in Orissa during the current summer went up to 41 with several interior pockets and industrial zones were burning under scorching sun.
Mercury level touched a whopping 46 degree Celsius in mining hotbed of Sundargarh while temperature in industrial town of Jharsuguda was recorded 45.1 degree Celsius.
Interior pockets like Titlagarh, Bolangir, Bhawanipatna and Hirakud experienced temperature over 44 degree Celsius. Temperature in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack remained moderate at around 38 degree Celsius. People in twin cities suffered a lot due to high humidity coupled with unscheduled power cuts.
