Corrections and clarifications

The caption of the accompanying photograph in a report “In and out of militancy in Reasi hills” (North India, May 19, 2008) was “Tackling Terror: Residents of the militancy-infested Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir being trained in self-defence by the army. Such training has been intensified following the recent Samba encounter. — Photo: Handout.” The photo credit line should have been “Luv Puri”.

In a cricket report “Mumbai makes it a no-contest” (“Sport”, May 19, 2008), the third paragraph was “Akhtar was brought down to earth after the minor high of Sachin Tendulkar’s wicket off the fifth ball, as Jayasuriya’s counter-punching resulted in 29 runs in over number two.” It was a reporting error. Over number two of Akhtar fetched 23 runs only, and his total quota of two overs was squeezed for 29 runs. (The report was on a match between the Kolkata Knight riders and Mumbai Indians.)
