On campaign trail: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy addressing a roadside meeting in Korutla town of Karimnagar district on Monday. METPALLY (KARIMNAGAR DT): Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy called upon the voters of Telangana region to grill the TDP and TRS leaders when they visit villages seeking their votes during the byelections. Dr. Reddy launched his two-day election campaign from Mallapur mandal headquarters by organising road shows in Metpally, Buggaram, Jagtial, Sircilla and Karimnagar Assembly segments covering Karimnagar parliamentary constituency on Monday along with Congress nominee T. Jeevan Reddy, DCC president T. Santosh Kumar and other district leaders. Moderate turnoutAddressing moderately attended road side meetings in Mallapur, Ibrahimpatnam, Metpally, Korutla and other places, the Chief Minister appealed to the voters to grill the TDP leaders for failing to take up any developmental and welfare schemes during its nine-year regime in the State. He also urged upon the voters to grill TRS leaders, including its president K Chandrashekhar Rao, for neglecting their constituencies. AchievementsListing out his achievements, including the Rs 2-a-kg rice scheme, Rajiv Arogyasri, free power to farmers, waiver of crop loans, Pavalavaddi scheme, Jayayagnam etc, he said that the development taken up during the last four years of the Congress government was not done since last 60 years of Independence. He also explained about the transformation of upland regions of Karimnagar with the completion of ongoing SRSP flood flow canal. During his speech, he dealt with the local issues of removal of danger mark from beedi packets and consequent protection to the beedi making industry and also explained about the measures taken for the rehabilitation of Gulf returnees. Indirectly referring to Telangana statehood issue, he said that the party has total confidence on UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi. Congress nominee from Karimnagar parliament constituency T. Jeevan Reddy launched a scathing attack against TRS president K. Chandrashekhar Rao for ‘imposing byelections’. Minister for Endowments J. Ratnakar Rao, Markfed Chairman Ponnam Prabhakar, legislator K. Ramulu and others were also present.
