Chandigarh: Maximum temperatures on Monday dropped sharply across Punjab and Haryana, by up to 15 degrees at some places, after rains lashed many parts of the region. Patiala had 28 mm of rain and was the coolest place in the region, with a maximum temperature of 24.6 degrees Celsius, 15 notches below normal. Karnal in Haryana also had a pleasant day recording a high of 24.8, down 15 degrees, after receiving 3 mm of rain. Ambala received light rains and the maximum there dropped to 25.9 C. Hisar was cooler by four degrees at 36.9 C. The maximum at Amritsar dropped by a degree to settle at 38.4. PTI
