CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh police on Monday claimed to have solved the mystery behind the murder of 33-year-old Anuradha, the wife of property dealer Baljinder Singh Sandhu, by arresting the domestic servant employed at their Sector 38 residence here from Himachal Pradesh. Only on Sunday the police had declared that this servant had been found “killed” near Ropar in Punjab as per identification by the husband who also has been detained for further investigation. SSP S. S. Srivastava said the servant, Vijay Pal alias Nikku, had claimed during his interrogation that Mr. Sandhu had given him the contract to murder his wife. The police also claimed that the body that was recovered from Ropar was that of Sunil, another servant who had allegedly been kidnapped by Nikku and his accomplice and later killed near Ropar. Anuradha was found murdered with her throat slit late on Saturday night while her two children were reportedly locked up in another room. Mr. Sandhu was not present at his residence at the time. He was purportedly partying at a local discotheque.
